This paper discusses the use of computer engineering in contemporary vehicle systems with emphasis on how it has been used in the designing, manufacturing, and operation of vehicles. The paper emphasizes the way in which conventional mechanical cars have changed to sophisticated cyber-physical systems with the incorporation of embedded systems, microcontrollers, sensors, and communication technologies, including the CAN bus. The qualitative and analytical methodology was employed, which was based on secondary data, which was gathered from academic journals, industry reports, and technical documentation. The findings indicate that computer engineering can help improve vehicle performance significantly in the areas of automation, safety, efficiency, and real-time decision-making. During the design phase, computer-aided tools and simulation systems enhance accuracy and shorten the time of development. Robotic automation and sensor-based systems enhance precision and efficiency in production in manufacturing. Electronic control units and embedded software are implemented during operation to provide intelligent control of important functions like engine management, braking, and stability systems. Future directions as presented in the study are also autonomous driving, integration of artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity in smart vehicles. Altogether, the study ends with the conclusion that computer engineering is one of the main pillars of contemporary automotive systems and its importance in the production of intelligent and sustainable transportation technologies.
