Abstract

This original theoretical and methodological work formalizes the hierarchical model of core fears in the A. Kapalbayeva Method of personality psychotypes. The work introduces a model of three levels in which a psychotype-specific core fear is perpetuated by intermediate threads (sub-fears) and distal points of view (judgments and beliefs). The present article differentiates hard and soft psychotypes on the basis of quantity and density of threads. An identification and dis-identification protocol is systematized as an intervention sequence that could readily be replicated. The hierarchical Kapalbayeva model is positioned in relation to dimensional research into threat sensitivity and behavioral inhibition, against typological models of the organization of fears, and in relation to clinical methods of core-fear identification. This piece advances the Kapalbayeva work into an explicit scientific model and lays the foundation for empiric testings of the hierarchy and intervention predictions it generates.
